Motor Controls Electrician

Motor Controls Electrician or Marine Electrician – Full-Time Role in Harvey, LA.

$25/$28 hr | Full-Time | Year-Round

Unite Contracting is actively hiring an experienced Motor Controls Electrician or Marine Electrician for a permanent, full-time position based in Harvey, Louisiana. No per diem money, as this is a permanent job with benefits. A significant plus and top pay are available for those with experience in motor controls. This job is not offshore work, nor is it temporary — it's a long-term W-2 position providing marine electrical services on commercial vessels across Harvey-area ports.

What You'll Do

  • Perform electrical service calls and repairs on tugboats, push boats, and crew boats

  • Install and maintain switchboards, controllers, motors, alarms, and distribution systems

  • Run and terminate cable; mount electrical equipment and complete hook-ups

  • Use diagnostic tools (voltmeters, ohmmeters, phase rotation indicators) to troubleshoot systems

  • Conduct insulation resistance tests and recommend repair/replacement

  • Maintain inventory and assist with part requisitions

  • Support electrical upgrades and modifications onboard vessels (no offshore or dockside-only work)

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of motor controls or marine electrical experience

  • Solid experience with motor controls, cable terminations, and power systems

  • Ability to read technical documentation and electrical schematics

  • Valid driver's license and ability to work across the Harvey-area ports

  • Willingness to relocate to Harvey or travel for full-time, local work

  • Safety-minded and detail-oriented

Schedule

  • Full-time | 40–60 hours/week

  • Monday to Friday | Day shift

  • 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts depending on service needs

  • Overtime for emergency or after-hours service calls
