Marine Electrician

Marine Electrician – Full-Time Role in Tampa, FL (Open to Norfolk, VA Candidates)

$35–$40/hr | Full-Time | Year-Round | Company Truck + Gas Card

Unite Contracting is actively hiring an experienced Marine Electrician for a permanent, full-time position based in Tampa, Florida. If you're located in Norfolk, VA or the surrounding area and looking to relocate or travel for a stable, well-compensated role, this opportunity is for you.

This is not offshore work, not temporary — it's a long-term W2 position providing marine electrical service on commercial vessels across Tampa-area ports. Company vehicle and gas card included.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform electrical service calls and repairs on tugboats, push boats, and crew boats

  • Install and maintain switchboards, controllers, motors, alarms, and distribution systems

  • Run and terminate cable; mount electrical equipment and complete hook-ups

  • Use diagnostic tools (voltmeters, ohmmeters, phase rotation indicators) to troubleshoot systems

  • Conduct insulation resistance tests and recommend repair/replacement

  • Maintain inventory and assist with part requisitions

  • Support electrical upgrades and modifications onboard vessels (no offshore or dockside-only work)


Requirements

  • 5–7 years of marine electrical experience

  • Solid experience with motor controls, cable terminations, and power systems

  • Ability to read technical documentation and electrical schematics

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work across Tampa-area ports

  • Willingness to relocate to Tampa or travel for full-time, local work

  • Safety-minded and detail-oriented


Schedule

  • Full-time | 40–60 hours/week

  • Monday to Friday | Day shift

  • 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts depending on service needs

  • Overtime for emergency or after-hours service calls
